Parenthood and Creation: The Choreography of Maintenance – Workshop Series by Beatrix Trisha Simkó

How can parenting and freelancing be reconciled? How can we be full-time parents and freelancers at the same time? How can independent professionals find balance between childcare and (creative) work?

These are the central questions of the program Parenting and Creation: The Choreography of Maintenance, initiated by Beatrix Trisha Simkó.

In the early stages of parenthood, the intensive care and attention required often force freelancers to pause their careers. This program was created to spark discussion about this often isolating period and to offer space for connection for those who are currently experiencing or have gone through similar situations.

About the Program:

The workshop focuses on the theme of isolation, using this as a lens to creatively explore processes of connection — both with ourselves and with others.

The goal of the workshop is to create a space where participants can share their experiences and support each other as a community — as creators, freelancers, parents, in the present and into the future.

The workshop centers on free dance and reflection. Participants will engage in improvisational movement exercises that allow for individual expression as well as the observation and discovery of different movement qualities.

This occasion is designed to foster creativity, explore different modes of connection, and build a shared experience in a safe environment. We reflect on various aspects of the intersection between parenting and work — both individually and collectively.

The program warmly welcomes freelancers sensitive to this topic, parents or soon-to-be parents from all kinds of family constellations, and anyone seeking inspiration.

No previous training required. Please wear comfortable clothing.
