KRISZTIÁN GERGYE (1976)
Director, choreographer, contemporary dancer, performer, painter
Krisztián Gergye started his stage career as a Javanese dancer. He spent a year in Java in 1998 where, as a Darmassiswa scholar, he studied the ancient Indonesian dance. Mixing tradition with a modern attitude he then created his own vocabulary for dance and body. He has been staging his own choreographies since 2001. Independent projects soon lead to permanent collaborations and finally his own company, which represents all comprising contemporary theatre with special theatrical language including the elements of dancing, music, the fine arts, puppet theater, opera, performance, all at the highest artistic level. As a dancer and choreographer, he has been a guest to nearly all famous Hungarian dance groups and performed in all contemporary dance theatres and venues. He has been awarded several prizes both for his creations and as a performer. From 2014 on they work as a project company searching the possibilities of the dialogue between the different artistic genres and creating self-dependent and always remarkable inter-genres performances. He works with permanent as well as special artists all with significant artistic background and open to perform in different genres. Over the past years this project-theatre company has become a well-established troupe, always open to novel forms and artistic solutions. Company has performed in several countries: Austria, BIH, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, UK, USA…

As a Choreographer cooperated with famous artists like:
Iván Fisher, Andrei Serban, Presznyakov Brothers, Róbert Alföldi, Eszter Salamon, Viktória Vizin
He made more than 50 productions including dance pieces, dramas, operas, and puppet performances. He often makes co-production, site specific performances, video-performances and exhibitions as a painter too.
