Workshop Description

Our bodies keep the score.
Past experiences, tension, daily stress, and trauma become deeply embedded in our muscles, movement patterns, and posture.

As Bessel van der Kolk’s research shows, the connection between body and mind is essential in shaping how we perceive ourselves and the world.

Developing body awareness gives us the opportunity to recognize and re-write the patterns we carry.
This workshop offers a space where, through movement and free dance, you can cultivate a deeper, more trusting relationship with your body.

The aim is not only the experience of dance, but a better understanding of how our physicality shapes emotional life — and how we can become a safe, living map for ourselves.

Why is body awareness important?

  • Interoception — conscious sensing of internal bodily states — helps recognize and regulate emotions
  • Proprioception — sensing the body in space — supports groundedness and confidence
  • Embodied movement can restore nervous system balance, reduce stress, and support trauma processing

Throughout the sessions, you’ll be invited to notice how movement affects your breath, what bodily memories may surface, and how your body expresses itself — all approached without judgment, with open and compassionate attention.

What to bring:

  • Comfortable clothing (both long- and short-sleeved tops)
  • Cotton socks (avoid synthetic materials — they slip and overheat)
  • Water bottle with a secure lid
  • Please avoid makeup, jewelry, and artificial nails — these can interfere with movement or cause injury

No previous training required. Please wear comfortable clothing.

About Me

I’m Zoltán Grecsó, a contemporary dancer, choreographer, and educator from Hungary.
I’m the founder and artistic director of Willany Leó Improvisational Dance Theater, and I’ve taught extensively across Hungary and internationally.

For me, teaching is not just about movement — it’s about building meaningful connection through the body.
